How it works
- PURCHASE A ONE-OFF RECYCLING SERVICE: Start by selecting the quantity of unwanted sports balls you wish to recycle. Recycling costs start from $35, which covers the recycling of up to 11kg of sports balls in one box. Our recycling rates are based on weight. Once you have purchased your service. You will receive a confirmation email. Please skip this step if you have a permanent TreadLightly Collection Box. Your ongoing recycling service has been pre-paid by your national sporting organisation.
- SET UP COLLECTION: Create a drop-off point at your club for used sports balls. If you are a pre-paid NSO service please use the TreadLightly collection box provided.
- PROMOTE: Use the provided materials to encourage recycling and sustainability at your club.
- PACK THE BALLS IN A BOX: Next, pack all of your unwanted sports balls into a sturdy cardboard box. Tip: Deflating them can help fit more.
- BOOK YOUR COLLECTION: Use the link in your confirmation email to schedule a pickup. If your NSO service is pre-paid, you’ll get a link from them when you register. Include your reference number and follow the instructions provided. Attach any labels we send you and leave the boxes for pickup. We’ll handle the rest.

We accept all types of sports balls, including soccer balls, golf balls, cricket balls, basketballs, tennis balls, and more.
We don’t take table tennis balls, badminton corks, hockey pucks, lawn bowls, wiffle balls, pool balls.
There’s no limit! We encourage you to recycle as many balls as possible as long as you pre purchase your collection.

Sports balls are cut into pieces, various metals and textile fluff are extracted and separated and turned into useful products like rubber mats and flooring. We aim for 100% of the ball to be recycled.
TreadLightly continues to work closely with its brand and recycling partners to look for new ways to innovate to find sustainable solutions for its recycled crumb, from shock pads to playgrounds and underlay for sporting surfaces.
